For cocktail lovers and enthusiasts, this weekend celebrated a very important day. December 5, 1933 marked the end of Prohibition, “a 13 year period in which alcohol was criminalized and led not only to a rise in civil delinquency and organized crime, but also to the loss of customs associated with the production, preparation, and consumption of alcohol.” Henceforth, December 5th became known as Repeal Day and has become a day to celebrate the traditions of craft beverage making and more!
Local Scottsdale Speakeasy, Counter Intuitive celebrated in one of our favorite ways, brunch! Ticket purchasers were treated to two cocktails (we really enjoyed the Penicillin featuring Cutty Sark) and a plethora of brunch snacks served buffet style. These delectable delights included: Deviled Scotch Eggs, Chicken Pasties, Scottish Lox Bruschetta, French Toast Breakfast Sandwiches and Bacon Beignets. My personal favorite was the Deviled Scotch Eggs which were full off flavor and had a perfectly balanced texture. Matthew really enjoyed the Scottish Lox Bruschetta, he especially enjoyed the pine nuts which he thought added a lot of character not usually found in a dish featuring lox.
If you haven’t been to Counter Intuitive before it is totally worth visiting. Open only on Friday and Saturday night from 10 pm to 2 am and with a menu and decor theme that changes quarterly, the opportunity to experience the current theme is definitely time sensitive (The current theme is Shanghai Social). Counter Intuitive was also recently rated by Zagat as one of the Top Ten Hottest Restaurants in Scottsdale. Once you experience the food and cocktails, its not difficult to see why. Everything we ate today was incredible, the drinks were complex and tasty and all of the bartenders are unique making each one a blast to talk with.
We really enjoyed celebrating Repeal Day with the crew at Counter Intuitive. We can’t wait to go enjoy more of Shanghai Social before the theme changes! Go check out Counter Intuitive for yourself, you won’t regret it!
