Tomaso Maggiore’s newest concept, Tomaso’s When in Rome in North Scottsdale opens to the general public on June,14 from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Long-time Phoenix culinary entrepreneur, Chef Tomaso Maggiore has opened over 35 restaurants in the Valley and this will be the first derivative of the original Tomaso’s Italian Restaurant on the Camelback Corridor.
The chef-driven restaurant will provoke a trattoria-type atmosphere with a heavy Roman-inspired culinary influence. From the architecture to the composition of the dishes, authentic Roman trends will make the establishment entirely unique compared to Tomaso’s other ventures. The 5,000 square-foot restaurant will seat 180 people and will feature geographically-themed walls that pay tribute to historical landmarks and destinations in Rome, a wine reserve that can hold up to 1,100 bottles and solid Roman columns which will be the signature design element. The restaurant will also boast a 750 square-foot alfresco dining experience and private dining options for more intimate affairs.
The handcrafted menu will include entrees like Veal Saltimboca Alla Romana ($27), Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe ($19) and Bucatini Amatriciana ($21) amongst an expansive wine selection that reservedly complements the dishes on the menu. Guests will be able to enjoy lunch and dinner every day, prix-fixe menus surrounding holidays and seasonal wine dinners with special guests.
I am looking forward to bringing my interpretation of traditional Roman cuisine to the culinary market in North Scottsdale. With this new “When in Rome” concept, I plan to create a worldly high-quality dining experience that celebrates the homegrown craftsmanship of the food and the true essence of an authentic Roman trattoria,” said Tomaso Maggiore, founder and executive chef. “When in Rome is going to be a place where families and friends come together to share memories, create new ones and always leave with a dining experience that was even better than the last.”
The Maggiore Group is a culinary group that was established in 2015 by father-and-son duo Tomaso and Joey Maggiore with restaurants throughout Arizona and Southern California. The Maggiore Group is comprised of Hash Kitchen, Tomaso’s Italian Restaurant, Tommy V’s Osteria Pizzeria, Tommy V’s Urban Kitchen + Bar, Notorious Burgers, Handcrafted Burgers and Beer and a catering and event division along with a new concept to be unveiled this year.
The restaurant is open for lunch, Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., happy hour from 12:00 to 6:30 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 10 p.m. On Saturdays for dinner only from 5 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 5:00 to 9:30 p.m. On October 14, Tomaso will be launching brunch from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
