Phoenix Comic Fest is almost here! If you are like us, you are probably already looking at the schedule and are trying to figure out just what panels you want to see. Well, like last year, we’ve made it easy for our fellow foodies. We’ve rounded up a list of all the food and drink related panels we could find! You can bet we’ll be hitting some of these and we are even doing one of our own!
The Search for Szechuan – When Fandoms Collide (Thursday May 24, 2018 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm)- How, exactly, did a Disney/McDonald’s cross promotion create a culinary phenomenon almost 20 years later, with Rick and Morty? The Beer Debates: PC vs. Console (Thursday May 24, 2018 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm)- Do you drink and know things? Well here is your chance to hang out in the Most-Icely Cantina and debate the pros and cons of one of our oldest debates: are consoles or PCs the better gaming platform? Anime Anonymous presents The Karaoke Idol Café (Friday May 25, 2018 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm)- Anime Anonymous presents The Karaoke Idol Café – Join the Anime Anonymous Karaoke Idols for an afternoon pop idol event! This Japanese inspired café has taken the two best things from Akihabara and combined them together, Maid Cafés and Idols! During this café, guests will be served featured treats by our stunning Karaoke Idols. The Idols will entertain by performing hit karaoke songs and dances alongside our guests. Stop in, relax and join us for some café fun with songs and dance. Cost $15 with food or $10 without. North 224AB
Hosting a Horror Movie Party with Geeks Who Eat (Friday May 25, 2018, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm)- Geeks Who Eat (hey that’s us!), the premier geeky food site in the valley, will share tips and tricks for the perfect ghoulish bash. Whether it be for Halloween or a movie night with friends, after this panel you will be able to plan a spooktacular shindig! North 226A
Mystery Cantina Card Game (Friday May 25, 2018 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm)- Want to find a new card game to play with friends while having a cold one? Well come check out some options! Drinks with Creators! (Friday May 25, 2018 8:00 pm to 11:30 pm)- Join authors and other creators for a glass or two in an informal setting. We’ll have door prizes, giveaways and raffles to support Kids Need To Read. Cost is $10 to attend. North 120CD

The Ripe Stuff: The Science of Fermentation (Saturday May 26, 2018 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm)- Experts discuss what goes into foods like bread, cheese, beer, and kombucha. There are many foods where microbial contamination is not only acceptable, but desirable. North 130
Anime Anonymous presents The Macho Café (Saturday May 26, 2018 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm)- Anime Anonymous and the Macho Men present an afternoon of snacks and entertainment! Inspired by the popular Macho Café in Japan, we aim to bring you the full muscle filled experience. The Macho Men have prepared their whole lives for this day, and are ready to serve up their favorite snacks and sculpted muscles. The Macho Men love interacting with customers and showing off their own unique talents. Come on in, take a break from the convention, and be dazzled by our muscled men in tight fit workout outfits. Paleo Diets – Is it just a Trend or Real? (Saturday May 26, 2018 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm)- Its said that our ancestors chewed the meat right off the bone. Can ancient foods solve modern problems? North 131C
Rocket’s Rad 80’s Party and Kids Need To Read Fundraiser (18+) (Saturday May 26, 2018 9:00 pm to 1:00 am)- Rocket has gotten pretty tired of Star-Lord’s mixtape and has enlisted Noah’s Arcade and DJ ASH10 to get out the jams 80’s style! Come join us for a big geeky 80’s party, filled with fun, rad music, adult beverages, and some other shenanigans! Getting decked out in cosplay and/or 80’s gear isn’t required but it’s encouraged! Some are Vegetarian; I’m a HUMAN-itarian! The Science of Cannibalism (Sunday May 27, 2018 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm)- Sharpen your knives and get ready for a serving of “sweetbread”. Learn from our experts as they discuss the history of cannibalism and the biology behind why it’s such a bad idea! North 130
Comic Fest Last Call (Sunday, May 27, 2018 4:30 pm to 5:00 pm)- Comic Fest 2018 is closing down. Come have one last cold one and talk to some fellow attendees about your favorite parts of the event. About Phoenix Comic Fest
Phoenix Comic Fest is a multigenre entertainment and comic book convention held annually in Phoenix, Arizona. It was founded as the Phoenix Cactus Comicon in June 2002 and originally consisted of a one-day six-hour event held in Ahwatukee, Arizona. Phoenix Comic Fest plays host to comic related panels, programming events, art contests, and autograph signings for all ages. It is a four-day event (Thursday-Sunday) held during the summer at the Phoenix Convention Center in downtown Phoenix.
