Of course, that means we will have lots of fun horror-inspired content coming your way! One of the newest horror films coming to the theater is Smile. The trailer didn’t tell us anything in terms of food but since we were so kindly sent a Smile coffee mug by the studio, we decided to talk about something that makes us smile, coffee! Not to mention, after seeing a scary movie that will keep you up all night, you’re going to need some coffee!

In Smile, “after witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter starts experiencing frightening occurrences that she can’t explain. As an overwhelming terror begins taking over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her horrifying new reality.”

So how do you make coffee better? The heavenly beverage is already pretty great but we have some tips.

Coffee Selection

When it comes to choosing our coffee, we prefer a light to medium roast for daily drinking. It’s lighter and typically a lot less acidic. No matter what roast you enjoy, we highly suggest buying whole beans and grinding them yourself daily. This gives you the freshest brew and it tastes so much better.

Brewing Additions

So now that you have picked a coffee, you can enhance it during its brewing. Adding a small pinch of salt to your grounds helps to reduce their bitterness. It also apparently helps with acid reflux and water quality. We like adding a pinch of cinnamon to our grounds as well for a subtle flavor addition.

We primarily drink our coffee black. However, if you want flavor in your coffee we suggest flavored syrups over flavored coffee. In our experience flavored coffee rarely has more than the scent and the coffee itself just tastes like an acidic mess. Syrups and creamers allow you to decide how much or how little flavor you’d like to have. Our go-to syrup is Jordan’s Skinny Syrups which can be found online or at Home Goods.

We hope this little guide helps you to bring a smile to your face with your morning joe. Another way we are bringing a smile to your face is by hosting a giveaway to an advanced screening of Smile on September 28th! Be sure to check our Facebook post for details and how to enter!
