Our recipe for Midnight Society S’mores is a Paid Promotion for Nickelodeon’s Are You Afraid of the Dark.
It is obviously no secret that we love horror. What may be less apparent is how that love was cultivated when we were younger. Are You Afraid of the Dark made a huge impact on both of our loves of horror. It was always so much fun staying up and watching it on SNICK. When we heard that it was being rebooted for a new generation, we were beyond excited. Even more so when we were asked to create a recipe for its DVD release! We are excited to share our recipe for Midnight Society S’mores!
In the new Are You Afraid of the Dark, “the Midnight Society returns to welcome new member Rachel (Lyliana Wray, Top Gun: Maverick) into their group – all she has to do is tell a truly terrifying story. But when the events of her story start to actually happen in their small town, the members of the Midnight Society must attend the Carnival of Doom to put a stop to the reign of terror of the mysterious Mr. Tophat (Rafael Casal, Blindspotting).”
Also included with the DVD release as special features are the following classic episodes from the show:
Are You Afraid of the Dark? Special Features:
- Original Series Season 1, Episode 2: The Tale of Laughing in the Dark
- Original Series Season 4, Episode 8: The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner
- Original Series Season 5, Episode 1: The Tale of the Dead Man’s Float

What’s more perfect for the campfire than the classic s’more? What’s even better is you can make this version at home! Our recipe even has a seal of approval from The Midnight Society!

[Sponsored] Perfect for a night at home, The Geeks have created a recipe for Midnight Society S'mores inspired by Are You Afraid of the Dark.
Ingredients
- 12 Graham Crackers (24 halves)
- 12 Marshmallows (standard sized)
- 3 Milk Chocolate Bars (with dividable pieces)
- 4 oz package Red Fondant
- Wax Stamper
- Butter Knife or Fondant Shaper with a Point
- Kitchen Torch (optional)
Instructions
- Split and roll fondant into 12 balls about ¾” in diameter.
- Press with your wax stamper to make them look like a wax seal. (If they stick to the stamp too much refrigerate the balls for a few minutes)
- Using the butter knife or fondant shaper to shallowly cut the letters TMS into the seals. (Adults should do this for younger children)
- Set seals aside.
- On a plate place 3 graham cracker halves topped with 3 rectangles of milk chocolate and a marshmallow. Microwave for 15 seconds.
- [Optional] Use a kitchen torch to carefully brulee the sides of the marshmallow for more of a campfire feel. (An adult should do this step)
- Top with other graham cracker halves.
- Place fondant seals on the top graham cracker halves.
- Repeat with remaining ingredients.
- Enjoy!
