What better a way to start December and the holiday season than with a drink? Last year we promised you one more holiday cocktail and well, life got in the way and we’re a year late. However, it is still worth checking out and is perfect for a Christmas morning brunch! This cocktail, named Be Sure to Drink Your Ovaltine is inspired by one of our favorite Christmas movies, A Christmas Story.
A Christmas Story is “follows the wintry exploits of youngster Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley), who spends most of his time dodging a bully (Zack Ward) and dreaming of his ideal Christmas gift, a “Red Ryder air rifle.” Frequently at odds with his cranky dad (Darren McGavin) but comforted by his doting mother (Melinda Dillon), Ralphie struggles to make it to Christmas Day with his glasses and his hopes intact.”
The inspiration for the Be Sure to Drink Your Ovaltine comes from one of the funniest parts of the movie. Ralphie has finally received his Little Orphan Annie Decoder Ring. Upon using it he realizes his secret message is just an ad for Ovaltine. It was too funny of a scene to pass up and an obvious choice. What do you think?
This cocktail was featured last year at Granada Bar and Grill but luckily now you can make it at home! It will be perfect for a marathon session of A Christmas Story! Happy Holidays and be sure to check back for more holiday-themed recipes!
Last year The Geeks teamed up with Granada Bar and Grill's Food and their former Beverage Director Noah Momyer to create cocktails inspired by holiday classics. The third cocktail is the Be Sure to Drink Your Ovaltine Cocktail inspired by A Christmas Story!
