We received a copy of Hereditary to help with creating our recipe for Charlie’s Chocolate Bars.
It’s no secret that we love horror movies. One of our favorite films of 2018 was not only a great horror film, but also a fantastic movie overall. Of course we are talking about Hereditary. After seeing it in the theater, we knew we had to create a recipe for it. That being said, we are excited to share our recipe for Charlie’s Chocolate Bars!
In Hereditary, “when Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.”
We don’t want to spoil too much of the movie in explaining our inspiration for this recipe. However, we can say that the character of Charlie and her love of chocolate was a huge inspiration. We we torn between chocolate bars and cake and ended up going the chocolate bar route. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll understand why.
We hope you enjoy our recipe for Charlie’s Chocolate Bars! Hereditary is now out on Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD! Have you already seen it? What did you think? Let us know in the comments below!
To celebrate the home release of Hereditary, one of their favorite movies of the year, The Geeks have created a recipe inspired by Charlie, on of the characters in the film.
- 1 cup Milk Chocolate Candy Wafers
- 1/8 cup Dried Cranberries; finely chopped
- Silicone Candy Bar Molds
- Heat candy wafers per package instructions.
- Combine chocolate and cranberries. (Do not over stir, this will make the chocolate seize)
- Carefully pour the chocolate into the silicone molds.
- Smooth the chocolate.
- Refrigerate for at least an hour.
You can substitute basically any dry fruit for the cranberries. Just no nuts!
