Hocus Pocus is a film that is near and dear to our hearts. It’s a must-watch for us every October. Its release date was even on Sarah’s 9th birthday. So imagine how thrilled we were when we found out that the sequel, Hocus Pocus 2 was actually happening! We couldn’t let it pass by without creating a recipe for it. Thus our recipe for the perfect autumnal movie night, Olde Salem Pumpkin Cider, was born!
In Hocus Pocus 2, “it’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.”
The inspiration for this recipe came from Winifred’s love of creating potions. Honestly, we just wanted to take photos with a cauldron and this was a fun way to do it. We love a good cider and thought to ourselves, “how do we bring pumpkin into it?” Our Olde Salem Pumpkin Cider came to fruition in that way. We decided to use pure pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice separately instead of pumpkin pie puree because it has less added sugar. The cider is sweet enough and we didn’t want to create a sugar bomb. The result ended up being a delicious cider packed with pumpkin flavor!
We hope you enjoy trying out our Olde Salem Pumpkin Cider! Looking for other treats to make for your Hocus Pocus 2 watch party? We have you covered! We created a post with several recipes and even decor ideas, including our Sanderson Sisters Caramel Apples! Interested in hearing more about the food featured in Hocus Pocus?
