We may be a little more quiet than usual, but when Joe Bob Briggs hosts a Halloween special on Shudder, we come running. We’ve never missed doing a recipe for a Halloween special! This year, instead of a pumpkin recipe, we created a recipe inspired by both Darcy and Joe Bob, Spicy Slaw Sliders! Read on to grab the recipe and find out the inspiration behind these sliders!
In Joe Bob’s Helloween, “horror legend Joe Bob Briggs and his co-host Darcy the Mail Girl celebrate the spooky season in style – with a demonic double-feature sure to get your blood pumping and one very scary special guest.” According to the man himself, the special “will be designed and shaped by Darcy The Mail Girl, because I’m sick of people telling me how bad I screw up Samhain every year, starting with my inability to PRONOUNCE Samhain. The guests, the decorations, the themes–all NOT MY FAULT. All I know is the two movies.”
As we mentioned above, normally we do a pumpkin recipe for these Halloween specials. When we found out Darcy was taking over and that y’all voted for a savory recipe we decided that we’d go a different route. Inspired by 2 of our previous recipes (our Smoky Chipotle Slaw Burger and our Buffalo Kale Beyond Meat Vegan Burger), we came up with these deliciously spicy sliders. Of course, for our spicy element, we used Yellowbird Hot Sauce, which we’ve dubbed the official hot sauce of The Last Drive-In (blame Joe Bob). What is great about this recipe is that you can convert it to full-sized burgers if you want more of a meal! Also, if you’re not worried about keeping vegan or vegetarian, you can make this in a meaty version as well!
Vegan sliders not your jam? We have other recipes from past Joe Bob Halloween specials you can check out as well! Not to mention a ton of other pumpkin and spooky recipes! Be sure to watch Joe Bob’s Helloween this Friday, October 20th on Shudder TV at 9 pm ET/6 pm PST.
