Happy New Year! With so much in store for 2020, we decided that we should start the year off right with a giveaway and brand new recipe! Luckily, Underwater is coming out next week and gave us the perfect opportunity to do just that. We are excited to share our latest cocktail inspired by Underwater, The Briny Deep.
In Underwater, “a crew of aquatic researchers works to get to safety after an earthquake devastates their subterranean laboratory. But the crew has more than the ocean seabed to fear.”
When we were working on this recipe we knew we wanted to create a briny cocktail recipe. After looking at the usual suspects, we decided to go off the beaten path a bit. We heard that a bar in Minneapolis was making their own seaweed infused scotch and knew this was the path we should follow. However, unlike that bar, instead of serving it with just a splash of water we went with a scotch and soda. We result is a smoky and briny cocktail that anyone who likes Islay scotch will adore.
In addition to this crazy yet surprisingly easy cocktail recipe, we are giving away 10 pairs of VIP Advanced Screening Passes to an advanced showing of Underwater! Inspired by the new thriller Underwater from 20th Century Fox, The Geeks have come up with a seaweed infused scotch cocktail called The Briny Deep!
- 2 oz Nori Infused Laphroaig (see below for the process to infuse your own)
- Club Soda
- Nori for garnish.
- Fill a stemless wine glass halfway with ice.
- Pour in scotch.
- Top with club soda.
- Garnish with nori (if desired).
To infuse your own scotch combine 8 oz of Laphroaig with 1/2 a sheet of nori. Make sure the nori is fully submerged. Cover and allow it to sit for 8 hours or overnight. Strain and use in the recipe!
